4DSC is back in full effect.

The 2009 Nissan Maxima’s radical new look made its debut earlier this week at the New York International Auto Show… check it out:

The new Max dons the classic “4DSC” (4-Door Sports Coupe) logo decal on its rear window, calling back to its early ’90s days when it truly established itself as the definition of a sports sedan. But since decals don’t make a car go faster (though some teenagers would beg to differ), Nissan went ahead and stuffed another 35 horses into the legendary VQ engine, topping it out at a hair-raising 290hp. Add that to the fact that its suspension was tuned at Germany’s reknowned Nurburgring track, and I think it’s safe to say we’re looking at the next benchmark for sports sedans in America.
