Every month, the pre-owned vehicle market becomes a more appealing option to buyers. In response, dealers have put a greater focus on stocking quality used vehicles to cater to these buyers… yet the public still has some trepidation about buying a used car.

So, if you’re in the market for a pre-owned vehicle, what can you do to make sure you’re getting a quality car? Your best bet is to read the CARFAX® Vehicle History Report. But hold on a second… don’t shell out that $19.95 to CARFAX when your dealer has already paid to run it!

Dealers who have gotten their technological foot in the door are always posting links to their vehicles’ CARFAX Reports; all you have to do is click your mouse. Check out this pre-owned 2004 Chrysler Pacifica at our Chrysler Of Paramus store… the Pacifica’s inventory detail page shows both a text link and a CARFAX logo which leads you to the report. In this instance, you can see that this Pacifica is a one-owner car, and was leased from a dealership in Eastern PA. It has no accidents reported, and a clean title. Now you know you’re looking at a low-mileage, one owner leased vehicle with no reported issues… you can’t beat that! The report even shows general service data for the vehicle, so you can be sure it was maintained properly.

Remember also that CARFAX has a buy-back guarantee on its title information. If it turns out that the title data they’ve provided to you is incorrect, they will buy your car back for your full purchase price! Yet another reason to make sure you check out that CARFAX report… just don’t go paying for it, ok?
